solar panels are cheaper.
the solar would be cheaper but depends where you are if you get more sun or more wind.
Solar panels are cheaper by cost,maintenance,area required,and any where sun light available there can be installed.
I bought an online guide recently rated #1 at http://buildurownwindmill.com that shows you how to make your own solar panel or windmill for under $ 200. I am still in the process of gathering materials as I would like to try and build both, but after reading the guide I bought, it looks like building a solar panel may be even cheaper as you can usually find used or damaged panels for free.
