I tried it, it’s not really worth it. Depending on the charger, you need at least 8-15 hours of uninterrupted sunlight for a full charge on an ipod (varies depending on the device, and the intensity of the sunlight).

Being indoors, interrupting the sunlight, a cloudy day, many things will make the charger less and less useful. Unless you are going on a long trip and not going to be near a power outlet for days at a time, it’s barely useful at all.
