Be sure and check to see if your area get enough wind, wind generators are good if you have the wind if not solar is great, there is lots of info on the internet so read up before you buy.

We heat our farmhouse with a large wood/coal stove. We had it hooked into the duct system of our house. Heats 3 stories and heats it well (and cheap since we get the wood off our property).
