Solar Energy: In Solar Energy Panels What Is The Method Adopted/meterials Used.? (8/13/2011)

in Solar Energy

In solar energy panels, how the sells are arranged. What are the materials used for the cells. How it is produced. How the power generated therein? How it can be collected from each cell and consolidate. Please tell me the details with pictures.

One of the properties of silicon is that when light strikes it, electrons flow on its surface. You can make electricity out of that. Other solar converters include heat exchange devices, focusing sunlight to boil water, for instance. But the direct light-to-electricity property of silicon is what powers the most efficent solar collectors.

Sorry i dont have pictures. The material used is made of silicon. It has a unique property of absorbing sun energy and the charge is differentiated. This creates a potential difference. Ths potential difference when joined in series produces large potential difference in terms of energy. The thumb rule says around 12 m sq area of solar panel can give around 600 w for 4 hrs when it fully charges the battery. The nature of voltage produced is DC so it charges the battery. Then an inverter can use the DC and can produce the Required AC(Alternating)
