I just want to know why it cost so much to go green? I recycle, hang my clothes to dry, buy recycled toilet paper and other paper goods. But I have noticed that the green products sometimes cost double the price of the non green products. Is this the way it’s going to be or will someone start making it affordable to the masses so that it doesn’t seem like just another fad.

its because everyone is so into “going green” and companies think that if it is labled enviormenatly friendly then people will buy it not thinking about the cost.
When you shop at large supermarkets (like walmart), most of their products are mass produced as cheaply as possibly with no concern of either the environment or the labor that makes them. Most “green” products are made by smaller companies that spend the extra money to use higher quality plant based ingredients and on their staff (i.e. healthcare…). Most of the green products are concentrated and will last you longer than the other cleaners. As for the toilet paper…um… go vegan and you’ll use less! j/k Larger companies are producing green versions so the cost might go down a little, but I’d rather pay a little more and support a small company from my country than import it from somewhere in Asia (nothing against the people, just the environmental costs of shipping it to the US!).
It is costlier to manufacture some products while protecting the environment at the same time. The reason that manufacturers use harmful products like chemicals is because it makes production cheaper (e.g. you can grow more and bigger fruit if you use insecticide). So doing without those chemicals makes production more expensive and hence the market price is higher.
How can we solve this? We can enact policy to subsidize green products or tax dirty products. That way consumers and producers will face the environmental costs of their decisions when they look at the price tag. It also means that the green markup will be diminished or disappear.
My advice is to conserve on your money. I do what I can to help and be a responsible resident of this planet, but at the same time consider this… If you keep buying “GREEN” things, your ganna go red and get stressed which may lead to all sorts of medical problems. If that includes hospital stays, well, your cost increases. Just be a concerned citizen and do what you can. When you have so much money that the price doesn’t matter, then pay for that stuff. (a lot of those products aren’t actually “Green”. The company just pays for the “carbon footprint” then makes you pay the difference.)
Because a fool and his money are soon parted.
