Can wind turbines work in places with little to no wind, or in place where it’s not super windy, but there is some wind?

Yes – it’s one reason they’re so big – they catch whatever wind there is. But it’s always best to find some gap in the mountains where that wind is howling through. Makes for good juice!

any wind turbine has desiged for a specified wind velocity and optimum output power is accessable in it,however, as i know most manufaturer design their generator & turbine for about 5 m/s velocity and they could work upto critical velocity (normally it is about 9 m/s). any wind turbine has control system which put out turbine in velocities more than critical from wind stream line .
please note that only wind velocity is not enogh to judge about sustainabilty of wind farm ,when other imortant points such as laminar/turbulent flow can affect on performance and lifetime of your wind farm.
