Solar Lights: Outdoor Solar Lights Are Not Working? (5/3/2011)

in Solar Lights

I just bought some outdoor solar lights I put them outside around 5:45pm and now it’s dark outside and they are not lighting up. Do they need more sunlight? I don’t understand why they aren’t working
nevermind i got them working. I had to pull the top off and turn the switch on thanks though

you need to pull the little piece of plastic out between the battery and terminal

Yes, they may well need more sunlight. Give them a full day and let us know how it goes.

Also, make sure any batteries are installed properly and the solar panel is clean. Be sure your locution is sunny for best results.

Good luck, and good choice to go solar.

Some solar lights have a button that needs to be in the off position while they are charging. After they have been charging for a day then you have to flip the switch. I sometimes have to jiggle the batteries so that the contact is good. The solar batteries last a couple of year and then they have to be replaced. I find it cheaper to buy a new set of lights at the end of the season as the batteries are at least $ 2.00 each. Big box stores really clear out all of their summer stock in August so watch for sales.
