Solar Lights: Outdoor Lighting Question For Landscape Folks -? (5/3/2011)

in Solar Lights

Does any company make a solar outdoor yard post type lamp that actually is bright enough to light up your yard? The old type were the lantern style posts with a light bulb inside, which were hardwired to a switch inside your house. I know there are many companies making solar outdoor pole style light posts, but I keep reading reviews saying that they just don’t put out any light to speak of. Thanks for any information.

I would purchase a couple of remote 50 watt solar panels with deep-cycle batteries connected to a 12 volt landscape system or through an inverter to power HID lighting.

It’s tough to get much light out of a postage stamp sized photocell, a hearing aid battery and a diode.
