Now that the new law has been signed forcing auto makers to sell cars that get 35mpg many Americans are jubilant and feeling victorious. They don’t know Jack. In Europe where little cars get high mpg gas has cost twice or more than what we Americans pay. When we are forced to be cramped into little transportation cells we will get more miles per gallon but will pay much more for the gallon. I know Jack. We will have a bouncier, more dangerous ride. The oil companies will still make the profits they need for their investors. Electric cars? You don’t know Jack. Those cars must have their batteries recharged. Most electricity used to recharge them is generated by burning oil which will also cost more. Hopefully your mini car will have a good heater because the price of home heating oil will surely rise. I know Jack. And the earth will continue to warm, (as are other planets in our solar system), until it decides to cool again. I voted for Obama. I support Obama. But somebody has to think. For every action there is a reaction. Gas prices will rise as consumption goes down. Jack knows that. Prices for all oil based products will rise. Products that contain plastic, hmmmm, tires, lubricants, cleaners, and countless more will all cost more. If you know Jack you also know that the oil companies will do fine even though you will pay at least $ 1300 per car more to use less, more expensive fuel. If you agree with this you know Jack. Response to ‘Climbing up the walls’: You obviously don’t know Jack. Did you miss the statement regarding Europe’s small cars and petrol prices at least double what we pay. They use less and pay more because of it. I don’t think that you’d care to match eductional achievements with me. Ivy climbs the walls of my alma mater but only has the inteligence of a weed.

The price in Europe is more because of the much higher taxes they charge on the gas there
