Wind:
Pro: infinitely renewable, entirely green energy.
Con: many people complain about noise, it’s also still remarkably inefficient but that’s going away quickly. Also, YOU predict wind patterns!
Coal:
Pro: cheap and easy
Con: burning coal is incredibly dirty, don’t be fooled by “clean coal” there’s no such thing. Mining it is also incredibly hazardous. To observe how nasty coal burning really is one needs but look at the major cities in china, all of which run on coal power, and visibility is cut down to half a mile, respiratory illnesses abound.
Gas:
ummm… ok Natural Gas:
Pro: far cleaner than coal or diesel, and we have all the resources needed to produce it effectively.
Con: not a great deal, it’s combustion emissions (when done properly) are very low, so far on this list only wind is cleaner.
Diesel:
Pro: effective as hell
Con: everything else you can imagine, it’s dirty, dangerous, and expensive.
Wave:
Pro: infinitely renewable, potentially highly effecient, and clean as a whistle.
Con: still in development, not viable for widespread use yet.
Tidal:
ok, this is the same thing as wave
Solar:
Pro: everything, this shit is good
Con: In order to power the united states on nothing but current solar technology, we’d have to pave nevada with solar panels. And maybe Utah.
Geothermal:
Pro: again, everything, this shit is good too.
Con: kinda hard to figger out.
Biomass:
You mean like biofuels? ok…
Pro: we can grow more! that rocks!
Con: still not that clean.
if you’re not talking about biofuels then I dunno.
