Solar Turbines: Why Do Wind Turbines That Generate Electricity Have Only Three Giant Blades.? (2/5/2012)

in Solar Turbines

I can only guess that wind turbines used to generate electricity have only 3 blades because it is the most efficient design.
If this is the most efficient design, then why do house fans have more blades. Why are they not made with 3 blades?

It’s probably due to the size of the blades. The they make them too heavy, it would take too much energy to turn, and they need to make them long, so they can get the most leverage.

Just a guess, but seems like a plausible reason to me.
