Solar energy is a great way to power things the only problem is that you need a lot of solar panels in order to generate enough electricity to power a whole house for example that is generally why it is cost prohibitive to use solar to power anything but small things.
There are other sources of power that will help you as well the likes of wind power and now even Magnetic energy.
The difference between solar and wind compare to magnetic energy is that with solar and wind you need a lot of stuff for them and they become cost prohibitive to install.
On the other hand Magnetic energy outputs more energy than it actually uses. You can build your own Magnetic generator with products that you can buy at your local hardware store, even if you are not too good at that sort of thing. I bought some blueprints about 2 months ago they give you step by step instructions on how to build it. The total cost of the hardware is only $ 100 and it will generate enough electricity to power your whole house.
Nothin is free. You can buy enough solar energy to provide you with some of what you need for about $ 20,000. But, you can not leave the grid because the sun does not always shine.. such as during the night when you need lights.
