Although they are a little unsightly, there are no known side effects. There are no above ground cables to cause cancer and they are relatively low noise.

Hey Chocolate, Tony is correct, there are not any real side effects to having a wind turbine near your home. There have been tons of claims over the years, bird deaths, cancer, insomnia, memory lapses, the list goes on. Only one of these effects was put to the test by a certified doctor some time ago, she had claims about peoples memory being affected and claimed to have the evidence to back it up. In the end it was discovered that her test sample consisted of less than 10 familes, and there was no control group.

There are of course financial effects. Someone might be on the good end of one if they can lease farm land to one and still farm it. Or perhaps someone might claim the value of their property was negatively affected by the installation of one nearby. These things happen all the time however, hardly a freeway overpass or airport is constructed without winners and losers in the fray. You can’t blame that issue on wind turbines, blame it on progress in general.

If you really want to go to the source and learn more, check out the American Wind Energy Associations website below. There are tons of articles, research and letters, and lots of scientific data as well. I’ll list a couple other sites below too if you’re still curious.

We live in a home that is powered by the wind and sun today, and as you read this there are preparations being made to install commercial units along the coast where we live. That is probably happening in all 50 states right now, and in many other countries as well . It has taken the utility companies some time to figure it out, now they are all gangbusters trying to get more wind installed every day. That’s good news for us, our economy and our environment. Take care Chocolate, Rudydoo
