Solar Products: ARE YOU INTO THE GO GREEN ALT MOVEMENT? Even Higher Priced Products? (3/15/2012)

in Solar Products

How do you feel about the government pour billions of tax dollars and borrowed money that must be RE-paid by taxpayers into expensive alternative energy programs?

If there is a market for Green ALt energy – does the GOV have to increase the national debt to give money to FAILING “private COMPANIES” like SOLYNDRA billions of dollars?

Do you buy alt.energy products when they cost much more – or do you select lower priced products because of your budget?

……….Is green Energy Co$ t effective – after gov subsidies are incl?……….

A multi-billion-dollar government crusade to promote renewable energy for electricity generation, now in its third decade, has resulted in major economic costs and unintended environmental consequences. Even improved new generation renewable capacity is, on average, twice as expensive as new capacity from the most economical fossil-fuel alternative and triple the cost of surplus electricity. Solar power for bulk generation is substantially more uneconomic than the average; biomass, hydroelectric power, and geothermal projects are less uneconomic. Wind power is the closest to the double-triple rule.

The uncompetitiveness of renewable generation explains the emphasis pro-renewable energy lobbyists on both the state and federal levels put on quota requirements, as well as continued or expanded subsidies.

This is more of a rant than a question.

I do select green products when viable. I would rather spend more on a product that uses less energy than buy something cheaper and spend the difference on electric bills anyway. We do need to become more “green” as a people, regardless of the fate of Solyndra. If we do not, we continue to be at the mercy of energy producers and suppliers, a slave to whatever they wish to charge.

We should be into green movement. Because our planet it’s on danger. We destroyed it and now we should do something to keep it safe.
