My family has what seems to be a good location for a few turbines, but I wonder how many we can put on an 8 acre space.

It depends upon the airflow pattern and the type of wind turbine. The producers of these and installers have experience in placing them to best advantage, but I would imagine a survey of conditions at the site is necessary before an estimate can be made.
