Solar Power: What Do You Think Of My Science Fair Project Ideas? (5/11/2012)

in Solar Power

I want something that is sure to win my 8th grade science fair and go to Regionals. Now i have fairly good knowledge in chemistry and physics  I will tell you what: in chemistry I know what atoms are, electrons, valence electrons are(meaning I know that there are 7 energetic levels duh :p) I know that valence electrons are used to make connections between two different atoms or same atoms, that two atoms that connect together that are the same atoms is a polar atomic structure and the opposite of that is called a non polar atomic structure… My knowledge in chemistry goes on forever and in physics I am ok:I know what the speed of gravitation and acceleration are (9.81 m/s squared) (duh) how to calculate all the gravitational pulls and different forces pulling on an object according to it’s surroundings , how to calculate the heat of any object as long as I have all the facts needed or I have enough facts to calculate the rest myself… And so on.that’s only page 1 out of around say page 23 by my knowledge. Ok so I will arrange my project ideas from easiest to hardest : 1. Make a crystal ball and have light running through it, touch it with a little glass stick and have all the light go through the stick and in my body, 2.compare which fruits conduct electricity the best and there highest voltage, calculate how many I would need to power a light bulb explain and demonstrate. 3. Make a solar panel and use it to charge batteries or a digital watch and last but not least 4.make a robot controlling him from a laptop with a Bluetooth and everything.

I was like you in Grade 8. I knew everything, I am in university now and my IQ is 185. I did not participate in stupid Science fair projects, it is for dumb retards trying to commercialize science by making it fun. You have talent, don’t waste it impressing others.

of the things you list 4 has best chance IF you make it work

but it is engineering not science
1 is not science and probably would not work
2you obviously know so little about electricity that there wil be other far better demonstration
3 you do not have th Industrial equipment to ‘make’ a solar material

you do NOT do good science by saying I want a guaranteed win

8 grade are just beginners , it is extremely unlaikly that here will be anything original

you are entering to learn not to win

like saying I want to be a little league ball player and win the adult world series, should I learn to catch a ball or just swing a bat?

Good ideas. About atoms and electrons,
An atom is a stable unit consisting of torroidal or tennicoit shaped rings surrounding a dual ring called neutron and a central proton. The rings are narrower as they get closer to the nucleus.

Gravity is caused by electromagnetic radiation of waves from the nucleus of an atom. Its lambda is very small in the order less than a trillionth of a meter. The laws of gravity are important.

A crystal ball can easily be got at the local fancy store. The light is made to travel through glass due to a property called Total Internal Refraction of light, as it passes from an optically denser medium to a rarer medium at an angle greater than the Critical angle.

Lime is a good acid to use with Cu and Zn in a simple cell.

Solar cells can be got at the electronics store. Use a 6 volt panel to charge a 3 volt series of two AA cells, and use a Diode in series, so that current from the cell does NOT go backwards into the solar panel when the sun goes down. The diode is called 1N4007 diode in the market and it costs Re 1/- each. It is like a valve, and allows current to flow in only ONE direction.

See the best answer at the reference. Replace arrogance by education. First learn what a science fair project is all about. Then look for ideas that match your interests and abilities. Take it seriously.
