Some help guys.. Name the problems created by fossil fuels.. and then can you pick an alternative energy source and explain its advantages and disadvantages, (Solar energy, hydroelectric, wind geothermal, nuclear, hydrogen burning, tidal power, biomass)…
Just hearing how somebody else would answer this would really help out. Thanks

There is a great transportation fuel that has the same energy density as gasoline, it is everywhere (especially in America), and people are willing to pay a huge amount of money to get rid of it. What is it? Of course, it is body fat. I get about fifty miles per pound of fat when I ride my bicycle instead of driving.
Burning fossil fuels produce greenhouse gases, which leads to the earth’s climate getting warmer. Solar would be a good alternative since the sun shines everywhere, but solar panels require land space and they use poisonous chemicals which could be an environmental hazard if the chemical leaks out of the panel.
Fossil fuels for one create pollution and are irreplaceable in our lifetime. Car engines use very little of the energy produced from burning the fuel. Obviously the one big reason why we are trying to find an alternative energy source is because our fossil fuels will not last the world forever. As far as i can tell solar energy can produce only so much electricity. What happens when the sun goes down? Then your doomed. Wind energy is also unreliable. What happens when you don’t live in a windy area, are you going to wait for a breeze to power the turbines? Nuclear fission creates too much radiation and the by products are difficult to dispose of and nuclear fusion doesn’t produce usable energy. I believe the most dependable energy sources would be hydrogen burning because your able to control it and maybe even hydroelectric. Hydrogen burning is cheaper than burning gasoline so i see it as a viable option as long as a reliable method is used to create the energy. Hydroelectric would work as it is already used with dams and can produce a lot of energy. Still hydrogen burning is most important I believe because it’s a portable energy source. If we can find an efficient, safe, and most importantly compact way to contain the hydrogen and make refueling cars easier then I do see it as a viable option. The rest of the energy sources like I said are area specific and will not solve an energy crisis for areas which are not windy or receive a whole lot of sunlight.
Refining fossil fuels causes pollution, and besides they won’t last forever….Solar energy; good but not cost effective….hydroelec; good, cost effective, but bad for some endangered species of fish and has been known to ruin whole ecosystems through flooding….wind and geo; both good and cost effective but doesn’t produce enough energy for what we need…. nuclear; our best resource up to date, but dangerous (politically). I have a feeling that electromagnitism and magnetic force will have a big part in our future energy sources. It’s a Pulitzer prize for the lucky inventer who discovers the secrets. We are close.
