There’s no markings on the two different spots and I want to connect them to a battery pack.
Yes yes yes I have a diode and the voltage is mucho grande higher but the shifty I got the cells from didn’t say and they have no markings on them and I don’t have a multimeter, any suggestions?

Yes, they matter. Don’t reverse the polarity! If you don’t know which is the anode and which the cathode, use a voltmeter or multimeter to determine this.
