Would like some information, in addition to cost, on how to install solar panels and battery storage for electric power. My intention is to supplement my city power with solar power to help reduce my electric costs. Is this even possible right now? Any information would be appreciated.

Answering your last question first, yes it is possible and very inexpensive compared to your monthly electric bill.
I have located a website that sells a book for $ 27 I believe will cover all your questions with step-by-step instructions and videos.
To build your own solar panels you must be handy with a soldering iron. If you have no problem using a soldering iron then you can save more than half the cost of panels that are already built.
