Going green obviously reduces overall energy costs, but is it really worth the expense? Would you purchase a home partially powered and heated using solar energy?

I say it does not add home value, and its not worth the expense … No I would not purchase a home partially powered and heated using solar energy.
Lots of trouble.
besides any tax credits you may receive adding solar powered heating to a home is not cost effective the payout to add solar to the home will not be recouped for 10 – 15 years after this maintenance will eat up any savings you may incur. at this point in solar tech. maybe with advances in the tech. this will be a cost effective way of reusable energy. if you are purchasing a house with this feature already installed. it couldn’t hurt but if the sellers are using it as a way to increase the value of the property I say no.

I doubt it would add to the resale value. A green home would require a buyer to be green and accept the added responsibility of maintaining a system they don’t understand or really wanted. This means you would only be selling to other greenies narrowing your market.
