When so many products we use already contain petroleum. It’s good to look at enery alternatives like wind and solar but you can hardly put those into these items.

He won’t. The only ones that can break our dependence on oil is us. Not to mention that half of the people in office have been bought off by the oil companies, even if he hasn’t been (which I doubt) he can’t pass anything on his own without the support of other offices.
He will work on lowering it by giving grants to alternative fuel studies (hopefull). No one can completely break dependancy on oil in 4 years. I have high hopes that he will put serious attempts to do so in motion though. Obama!

That being said no one can claim we won’t still need oil in the immediate future. We get more than half of our foreign oil now from Canada and Mexico, the point is to break out dependence on oil from foreign HOSTILE nations and to create a better sustainable source as soon as possible.
it’s possible there are many forms of energy that are not open to people because republicans think that we should use up everything before we consider anything.
