Most vitamins are used as coenzymes. Vitamin D is a notable exception; it is a hormone.
Vitamins are used in functions not found in plants. Vitamin C stabilizes collagen which is not present in plants.
Vitamin deficiency syndromes are well recognized.
Gut bacteria produce some vitamins and solar energy is a direct reference to vitamin D.
C is the correct answer.-
