i keep hearing becuase it wont affect prices now…we need alterntive fuels or alternitive energy (solar, hybrids, hydrogen fuel cell) the fact is there will always be gas powered cars on the roads and the number of them wont ever decrease…there are 11 billion barrels of oil on the continental shelf, 8-10 billion in alaska, many more billions offshore, and democrats wont let us touch it? it will take the same amount of time to increase production of alteritive energy and fuels as it would to drill that oil out of the ground (about 5 years) and if clinton in his 8 years had not blocked drilling right now we would have 2.00 gasoline not over 4.00 gasoline…we need to drill and we needed it yesterday
who says were running out of oil 97% of the worlds oil in untouched…if we explored drilling as much as we explore hybrids gas would be 1.00 a gallon…but that poor duck off the shore of alask…well boo freakin hoo
and for your information if we tap our oil its our oil we dont have to export a drop and i would be against it…tell opec to shove it, drill for our oil and support our economy…let opec do what they want we wont need them any longer

A couple of reasons. First off, they’re trying to be the “green party” a la Al Gore.
Second, a FUBAR’d economy helps them in the polls in November.
Geez kid oil is not infinite. You sound like a crack fiend who can’t find anything to pawn to get his next hit.
Drill now!! Drill now!!!
Because there are plenty options available on shore. Is that too difficult for you to grasp?
Environmental lobbyists.
We need to protect the environment, not destroy it. Furthermore, in Florida they are afraid of losing tourists at beaches due to the fear of oil spills. Drilling is the easy solution, the quick solution. But is it the right decision? We should invest in nuclear power and other alternative energies.
I know drilling won’t provide instant relief, but it will help relieve some of the prices from speculators. Democrat’s rather have the Chinese get the oil rather than us.
It won’t affect prices now!! And the estimate is that could be as little as a 2 year supply of oil. Why keep wasting money on that when WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY to make hydrogen cars, water cars, air cars, etc…. we don’t need GAS, OIL, etc…. for our transportation!!!!
I’m sorry but gas will NEVER get any cheaper. Get over it. Why are you so insistent of destroying the rest of the planet so you can keep driving your SUV? As long as I am alive I will NOT support any more drilling for oil. It’s an obsolete natural resource and we are seeing the end of it’s lifetime. And nuclear energy is NOT A VIABLE energy source either! It’s dangerous with a radioactive life of 10,000 years. Wake up people, we are in a serious energy crisis. If the whole world switched to nuclear power, we’d use the world supply of uranium within 2 years. New game plan called sustainability is headed your way!! There is lots of energy out there and it’s called SOLAR power and WIND power.
they are afraid it might look good for the republicans. it would take away O votes and make bush look like he was right about something. bet your bottom dollar, the dems will favor drilling if O is elected.
politicians in DC suck.
I am in favor of drilling.
Democrats want the price of gas to go up to $ 10.00 per gallon. $ 4.00 per gallon is not enough for them. They want the price to keep going up because they believe that would cause people to drive less.
PLEASE CALCULATE THE COST OF THE KWH GENERATED BY WIND POWER VS OIL….
(even for heat applications)
You will be very surprised my friend.
It won’t matter once this technology is developed.

The oil will always be there as an emergency backup, but not if we empty our oil reserves now. I just think it’s strategically wise to leave the oil alone for now, when the bottleneck actually becomes the amount of available oil instead of how many oil refineries we have, then we can talk about it.
In the meantime, oil companies can do more to prove they are serious about protecting the enviroment. For one thing, they haven’t even paid back what they owe for the Exxon Valdez disaster.
