The machine harnesses the sun’s rays and converts them into energy so you can plug in all your electronics. As you probably know for it to work there needs to be sun
It needs to sit in the sun for a while to charge its battery, and then it can power anything you plug into it for a while. The solar panel is much smaller than anything you’re going to plug into it, so it’s going to need many hours of charging for each hour of use. For example a small 60W light bulb would need 12 hours of charging for each hour of use. And large things like a refrigerator? Forget it.
This thing is much more useful for camping or other outdoor activity where you need a little bit of power occasionally to charge a cell phone or have a little light for dinner, but it would be useless in your house.
I would think of this as a portable power source that will briefly run low power devices for a while. In practice, you would plug it into the wall to charge it. The included solar panel is far too weak to recharge the battery in any reasonable time. My guess is that the “5W” panel is really 3 watts, and considering 5 hours of full sun a day, that would take 9 days to charge up the battery. And for all this, I’d estimate you get to power a laptop for an hour, tops.
If your main concern is being green, you can make a much bigger impact by saving energy in your home (for example, by installing more insulation), or saving energy by cutting down on driving trips.
