They still work in cloudy weather, they just don’t work as well. Any day light is fine, but more is better.
The sun is still shining behind the cloud cover. If it were not shining, it would be night. Light photons penetrate the cloud cover, which may diffuse the photons more than on full sun days. The panels still absorb light photons on cloudy days.
I am not knowledge as to how the panels absorb the photons, I just know that light energy is still absorbed by the panels on cloudy days, just not as much as on full sunny days.
there is still sun rays silly. even when you are under the shades there is still sun rays around you. a solar panel facing upwards under a car in a garage with its door open would still receive and store sun rays into energy it would just not be as much.
unless the sky was completely blocked by very very dark cloud then the solar panels would still receive enough rays to keep a house alight.
Perhaps one of the most popular myths about the use of solar energy is that on days when the weather is stormy or there is not much sunshine, that anyone who relies solely on solar power will simply have to shut down operations and make do. Fortunately, this is not the case for several reasons.
First, just as visitors to the beach can still experience sunburn on a cloudy day, solar panels can still collect some degree of energy from the sun’s rays, even if the day is overcast.
While it is true that the amount of energy that can be collected is certainly less than the amount that can be captured on a sunny day, the process of collection goes on any time there is any degree of sunlight at all. In addition, the energy is stored in batteries that are commonly referred to as solar modules. The energy found in the modules is what is called upon to take care of power needs during the night as well as supplement what is gathered on a cloudy day should the need arise.
they still work…just not as well.
can you see the clouds .ah ha must be some light getting through
