Because without government rebates nobody would use it. The rebates are our tax dollars!

Because you would not need rebates if it really did save money. They prove the inefficiency with their own policy.
CA could just put the units in a field and get the same effect if it was not just a scam.

Since YOU have in no way addressed anything in any way related to actual cost-effectiveness, why would you imagine anyone would find your “argument” persuasive?
With present technology, solar is a net CONSUMER of energy. Making the panels is EXTREMELY energy intensive (not to mention using rare minerals) and they don’t last forever. You cannot get as much power out of them as you USE to make them.

Solar to power your entire house the initial cost is about 45,000.00 to 55,000.00 to power everything.
and only when the sun is out and the battery’s last..
It is not practical yet.
By the time you recoup the cost the system will need replacing.
