Depends on the power plant and the fuel at the time. Even with coal there are different types that release different amounts of gases. Then you have nuclear power plants that only release water vapor.

Depends on the type of power plant. Coal fired plants will produce mostly CO2 with some CO. Nuclear power plants don’t necessarily put out gases, but the flumes you see coming from the towers are mostly water vapor. Any plant that relies on combustion will produce CO2 and CO. Solar plants and wind farms have no direct gas output except for whatever went into producing them.

it depends on the kind of power plant coal plants release carbon or CO2. most emit just steam because they get rid of any harmful gases and turn it into water which will come out as steam.

You are talking about power plants that burn hydrocarbons, right? This includes, natural gas, oil and coal.

Hydrocarbons stands for hydrogen and carbon. You burn it with oxygen and what comes off? H2O and CO2. These are the two big gases most power plant produce.

Solar panels convert sunlight directly into electricity and they don’t need to burn anything.
