For my exam in science we are required to make a power point explaining why it would be good for our school to switch to solar. our complete handout given to us by our teacher is as follows:
Power Point to include:
1. What you propose for alternative energy use
a. Any thoughts on energy conservation…
2. Why this is a good idea
3. What information you would give the solar company (area of roof space your group determined to be useable for solar)
In PowerPoint – include your “script” of what you would be saying when the slide is up in the Notes section below the slide
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRICIATED!!
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH,
QH

Solar is most likely not a good match for a school.
Skylights are more likely be be a better investment. Also for any given area, wind power generates more watts.
Solar cells are fragile. Only about 2% of the energy that hits them actually becomes electricity. As temperatures rise, solar cells efficiency falls. Wait, if only 2% of the energy hitting them becomes electricity, and when in the heat of a summer day you lose up to 40% of that power, what are you gaining.
LEDs on the other hand are a good energy conserving method. The installation cost are high, but you save 90% of the power used in an incandescent bulb. 10 watts of led egauls a 100 watt bulb.
The solar company should have a chart which shows your location and the average daylight for the last 5 to 10 years broken down by month.
Solar is great if you are far from a grid, but your investment will never pay itself back before it needs to be replaced. If you have enough days with 7 mile per hour winds or above, wind beats solar anyday.
Solar energy is called clean energy. Its environmental awareness program. It saves alternative current and home electric expenses. It stores sun light in solar panel to batteries. Its portable to transfer from one area to others. Once installed in a place means more than year energy saving energy.
If a school need solar power then need high investment for stalled. After all need to be circuit properly.
It is available in any part of the world where sun light present. No need to wire up with public lines or government service.
our school switch to solar because it doesn’t effect to the environment.
