There are several; the biggest are in Europe.

The easiest way to find specific companies would be to look at listings/profiles for ETFs or mutual funds that specialize in alternative energy, and see where they are investing. The symbols for some of those are:

GEX, PHO, PBW, GAAEX.

You might want to look at wind companies as well; the turbine industry for windmills is booming.

FSLR – First Solar Inc.

It is doing really well right now.

If you want more of a diversified approach,
PBD is an ETF that specializes in clean energy.

I’ll invest in those companies as soon as Uncle Sam stops giving all kinds of tax breaks,free giveaways on public lands and what not. Then I’ll happily invest in renewable energy.

I invested in Kaydon (KDN), they have a big backlog on manufacturing the ball bearings for wind turbines.
