Solar Energy: What Would The Cost Be Of Implementing Solar Energy Throughout All Of Saudi Arabia? (6/16/2011)

in Solar Energy

I’m doing a school project and we’ve been trying to figure it out. I need to know the cost of installing the solar plants and then the cost of maintaining them. I also need to know how much money Saudi Arabia currently spends on supplying energy to the country.

Last I checked, gas was real cheap there, exchange rates being what they are, they may have soared to about a dollar fifty a gallon, but that is just a guess. Their incentive to install solar is not a great one.

If you can find the energy demand of Arabia last year, you can figure out how many panels would be needed. If you make a few assumptions, you can estimate an installation of 1.5Kw to run about 35,000 US.

Otherwise if you know the number the average power needs and the number of households you can come up with a number by looking through the websties of some vendors, http://www.northerntool.com http://www.powerfilmsolar.com Follow their links to the those they supply. You can also find some calculators here:

You are obviously doing a school project, so you do not need to worry about truthfulness, it has no place in a classroom these days so you can play fast and loose with some numbers that are rooted in reality and then extrapolate from there to fit the agenda.
