I’m trying to figure out how much of the surface area of a solar panel is metal. Including the areas between individual cells and the small wires inside each cell.

I do not know but I know someone who does and that is the people who make them. Not wishing to be accused of advertising again and so I am not going to name any but that should be easy for you to find out. They all have web sites. Good luck.
